Privacy Policy — Unchained

Unchained is a local-first habit and personal reflection app developed by WORT Studio. We designed Unchained to keep your personal app data on your device wherever possible. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app stores, how it is used, and when information may be shared with third-party services.

1. Information You Store in Unchained

Unchained allows you to create and manage habits and record information related to them. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:

• Habit names and habit-related settings.
• Daily check-in records, including results, feelings, wins, and gratitude entries.
• Journal and reflection entries.
• Progress, streak, slip, milestone, and statistical information derived from your records.
• App preferences and reminder settings.

2. Local Storage

Unchained is designed as a local-first application. The habit, check-in, journal, progress, and preference data you create in the app is stored locally on your device rather than in an Unchained cloud account or Unchained server.

3. Notifications and Reminders

If you enable reminders, Unchained uses the reminder settings you choose to schedule local notifications on your device. Reminder data is used to provide the reminder functionality and is not uploaded to an Unchained server.

4. Exporting Your Data

Unchained provides XLSX export of your check-in data. When you export your data, the file is generated on your device. You choose where to save or share the exported file using Android's sharing or file-handling features.

Once you share or save an exported file outside Unchained, that file is subject to the privacy practices of the service or application you choose to use.

5. Advertising

Free users may be shown rewarded video advertisements when using the XLSX export feature. Unchained does not display advertising throughout the core habit, check-in, journal, or statistics experience.

Advertising may be provided by a third-party advertising service. That service may process information such as device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, advertising information, and ad interaction data as permitted by its own policies and applicable law. The information processed by the advertising provider is governed by that provider's privacy policy.

6. Premium Purchases

Unchained may offer a lifetime Premium purchase through Google Play. Payment and transaction processing are handled by Google Play. Unchained does not receive or store your full payment card or banking details.

Premium is intended to unlock features such as unlimited active habits and an ad-free export experience.

7. Third-Party Services

Unchained may use third-party services required for advertising and in-app purchases. These services may process limited technical or transaction-related information according to their own privacy policies.

Unchained does not sell your habit history, journal entries, or check-in records.

8. Accounts and Cloud Storage

Unchained does not require an Unchained account and does not provide an Unchained cloud storage service for your personal habit or journal data.

9. Deleting Your Data

Unchained provides a Delete My Data option in Settings. Using this option is intended to permanently delete the personal app data stored locally by Unchained, including habits, check-in history, journal entries, and saved preferences.

Exported files that you previously saved or shared outside the app are not automatically deleted by Unchained. You are responsible for deleting those copies from the locations where you saved or shared them.

10. Data Security

Because your primary Unchained data is stored locally, protecting access to your device is important. Unchained does not claim that local storage can protect data from every form of device compromise, unauthorized device access, or other security event.

11. Children's Privacy

Unchained is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an Unchained account or Unchained server, because the app does not require such an account or provide cloud storage for user records.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Unchained's features, services, or legal requirements change. The updated policy will be published at this same web address, together with a revised effective date when appropriate.
